Saute in olive oil - 1 large onion, 5 cloves garlic.
Brown in olive oil - 1 1/2lbs. Italian sausage or piece of beef or pork.
Add to :
- 1 large can (#2 1/2) tomatoes
- 2 large cans (#2 1/2) puree
- 1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper
- 1 tablespoon sweet basil
- 1 tablespoon sugar (optional) or honey
- 1 tablespoon parsley flakes
- 1 bay leaf
Simmer 2 to 3 hours - stir often
